Work Experience Programme

The Economist work experience programme provides a one week’s, unpaid work experience during July and August at our London headquarters.

Please note, due to the coronavirus pandemic, we have cancelled this years programme.  A new programme will be offered next year. Please review this website for additional information in the January 2021 time frame.

Typically we are looking for sixth-form or school leavers, who are interested in one week’s unpaid work experience during July and August. We will accept two students each week for five weeks. This programme is not designed for university students or those with previous work experience.

You will have a keen interest in the publishing or media sector. You will be passionate about economics, politics or journalism.

The programme will provide you with an interesting overview of our commercial and editorial practices. You will shadow several members of staff, gaining valuable insight and experience across the business including The Economist, Economist Intelligence Unit and Economist Media Businesses.

You will be able to apply for our next programme starting in April 2021. If you miss this deadline, there will be a new programme the following year.

You must have the existing right to work in the UK.

We will pay reasonable travel and subsistence expenses within London.

The Economist Group values diversity. We are committed to equal opportunities and creating an inclusive environment for all our employees. We welcome applicants regardless of ethnic origin, national origin, gender, race, colour, religious beliefs, disability, sexual orientation or age.

Thank you for your interest in The Economist Group.
